We translated data from the map of the world for an internationally renowned IT client for use in their software. The project was first translated via a website, but the client later created an application where it is being translated.
The application was specifically developed for the translation of these geographic and geopolitical names. It contains detailed information for each element, a link to its location on the map, links to references, while also displaying translations of other languages for inspiration. Naturally, the translator must respect the rules for translating and transliterating these geographical and geopolitical names according to the rules in force.
The translator must also meet the requirements set by the client. As the client is very security-conscious, translations may only be carried out on pre-approved equipment that is regularly checked. This involves the translation of geopolitical names in larger batches of approximately 5,000 to 10,000 units per project. After being translated by a trained linguist, the translation undergoes further revision by the client, where every discrepancy is deliberated to guarantee a 100% outcome.
